Trileptal + Lamictal combo

Hi all, I've been diagnosed since last year and was on lamictal and trileptal with a previous psych but my new one is resistant to keep me on both due to possible physical side effects. I'm wondering if anyone takes both and has has had any issues? Also, do you do weekly or monthly (or how lever often) blood work with the two?
