CDP and UC
Hi looking for advice. My disabled daughter turns 16 soon and social security Scotland have said we need to have her Child Disability payment (ERC/LRM) put into her own account or I need to apply for guardianship. She has full capacity and so guardianship is not appropriate. She reluctantly agreed she’d take over managing the CDP but she wants to transfer a lump sum to us to pay for her clubs and therapy for her because she’s scared she’d blow it all and then can’t pay for these essentials. She is still in school and young for her age but generally very sensible (except spending)
We receive a small amount of Universal credit and this takes into account her disability. If she transfers her CDP to us each month will that be considered an additional income because it’s coming from her bank account and not SSS, even although it’s exactly the same money as we received previously when directly from SSS?
If someone can make sense of that and advise I’d be extremely grateful. Thanks.
