Grace Clinton Near Manchester City Move, Jess Park Set for United

England midfielder Grace Clinton is on the verge of joining Manchester City, while fellow international Jess Park is set to move to Manchester United before the transfer deadline.

• Clinton, 22, is expected to complete a swap to City by 23:00 BST on 5 September 2024, with United seeking a fee rather than losing her on a free transfer.
• United have one year left on Clinton’s contract after exercising a clause that extended it, and view the move as a step up to a club regularly challenging for league titles and European competition.
• Park, 23, will undergo a medical at United’s Carrington training ground and will replace Clinton in United’s midfield as part of the coordinated deal.
• Clinton broke onto the England scene with a debut goal in a 7‑2 win over Austria in February 2024 and has featured as a substitute in five of England’s six Euro 2025 matches.
• Park spent eight seasons at Manchester City, winning league titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups, and impressed during a loan at Everton by scoring within two minutes of her England debut against Japan in November 2022.
• The swap underscores the active Women’s Super League market, with clubs using fee‑recovering strategies and complex deals to strengthen squads before the season’s final months.

Why it matters: The transactions reflect growing professionalism, financial maneuvering, and fluid player movement between top WSL clubs.
