Roommate smells awful

Hey everyone! I’m currently making this post on behalf of my niece (f 17) who is a college freshman. She’s been living in the dorms for less than a month now but she has become increasingly anxious and angry about her living situation. Her roommate (FTM 17) smells like the worst BO you can ever imagine. On move in day our family helped move her in (9 of us in total) and everyone noticed the smell right away. We couldn’t even be in the same room as the roommate because the smell was too strong.

My niece had spoken to the roommate twice now and they said they don’t like to shower everyday and don’t like to use any deodorant or perfume/cologne. The RA said roommate change applications cannot be done until September 15. She sprays Febreze, Lysol, uses the automatic air freshener but nothing masks the smell when the roommate is there. Is there anything else she can do to mask or get rid of the smell in the meantime???
