Lucid dreaming, NPC aware

I've been having crazy lucid dreams. Time travel, looping stories, recurring characters aware of their roles or place on timelines. Last night I had a dream I was in a huge expansive world, lots of people out in nature, but there were these weird mechanisms that, if people tried to force their way through them, would unleash monsters. One character became aware of myself and my companion, who was an NPC programmer. One of his previously programmed NPCs spawned randomly and was aware that it was within a program and I'm the presence of the creators, and it point blank asked us why we were allowing such a beautiful world to be messed up by such dangerous creatures. It angrily requested/demanded that we allow them to live in peace. I remember telling the NPC that if he just followed the common sense rules and didn't try to force his way through programs, he wouldn't trip the protective devices. He didn't like that. Haha.
