Question for type 7s

Advice Wanted

For context I’m trying to find the enneagram that best aligns with my partner. He seems to align best with 7, except he has the worst self-esteem and struggles with positive thinking. He’s resilient but has a lot of self-doubt. If he makes a mistake or doesn’t grasp something immediately (or quickly) he beats himself up and integrates it as a personal flaw worthy of punishment (he takes losses very seriously). I know this probably aligns more with 1s or 3s, but he isn’t a perfectionist in the traditional 1 sense, he has no shame surrounding expressing anger, and he struggles to stick with projects to their completion. He isn’t afraid of exploring the ‘darker’ or more difficult parts of his psyche. I’m wondering if this is normal for 7s, perhaps an unhealthy one, even if it goes against the stereotype?

7 behaviours he does relate to (list not exhaustive): He’s incredibly versatile and can pick most things up quickly; he has many ideas and is often juggling multiple projects at once, but struggles to follow through; when he’s stressed, he’ll go to activities that distract his mind (fiddling with his motorbike, playing chess online, etc.) or physical activities like running or gym; he doesn’t have much respect for authority figures and isn’t afraid to articulate that; overall he’s very smiley and jolly and can talk to a variety of different people, no problem; he is excitable, especially when starting new projects and wants to share them.
