Excluding traits? But I get to pick them all over and over

As title says, I chose a trait that supposedly excludes others…but next lvl up I can chose it again. Is that just completely bugged on mobile?

I am only a few hours into the game and it feels like choices are basically meaningless currently. Having to grind unlocks AND have the only actual choice not be one is a bit boring
