YouTube alternatives for creators?

I'm wanting to start a sort of documentary TV show, minus the costs involved with getting something on Crave, CBC etc (at least in the start up phases as we work out the details and get viewers - was hoping to bootstrap this using local library resources for filming, editing, etc).

I had initially thought YouTube would be perfect for this, but, well, you know.

Do we have any Canadian owned and operated services like YouTube for creators?
