Therapy being effective is contingent on so many factors that it's useless for everyone except a very specific person. It shouldn't even be recommended to most people or bothered to pursue as a field. Treat it like every other cult/middle class wellness fad/product/
* The Just World Fallacy.
* The Client/Patient having privilege. Existing on the upper two levels of Maslow's Hierarchy. Not being a member of a marginalized group
* The Client/Patient having no self awareness/critical thinking.
* The Client/Patient would be happy being gaslit into being a toxic positivity conformist, worker bee.
* The one size fits all CBT training methods, socratic/leading questions, JADE and DARVOing being applied a the "right" moments and actually working.
Bottom line:
Therapy is effective only if:
- you’re privileged enough to access it,
- you find a therapist who isn’t a parrot,
- you’re in a relatively safe environment,
- you’re psychologically “pliable” enough to be molded,
- and you’re at the right life stage.
Miss even a few of these and therapy turns into gaslighting at best, retraumatization at worst.
