Best handheld that doesn't come with a pre-installed frontend?

I've recently bought the RG406V and so far I'm loving it. The only issue I've had is that RGLauncher is kinda ugly and you can't add new platforms to it.

I've tried multiple times to install Launchbox onto it, but it can't run most of the platforms on there without freezing the entire device.

Are there any handhelds that don't come with a pre-installed frontend that I can upload launchbox onto it?
