Olav Kooij Claims Consecutive Stage Wins at the Tour of Britain

Olav Kooij extended his lead in the 2024 Tour of Britain by taking the Stage 2 sprint in Stowmarket. The Dutch rider held the green jersey and increased his overall advantage to 14 seconds.

• Won the 174.06‑km Stage 2, edging out Sam Watson on the final corner; Tom Crabbe finished second and Watson third.
• The victory widens Kooij’s margin to 14 seconds over his nearest challenger, with Crabbe now second overall and Watson third, 16 seconds behind the leader.
• Kooij, born in 2001, rides for Team Visma‑Lease a Bike, a squad known for nurturing young sprint specialists.
• Stage 3 will be 133.03 km from Milton Keynes to Ampthill, expected to finish fast and may favor another sprint, though the undulating route could allow breakaways.

Why it matters: Kooij’s consistency puts him in a strong position to defend the green jersey as the race approaches its final stages.
