Anyone else get colds that always go to their chest? When to go to doctor?

Whenever I get sick I can feel it go down to my chest-I get a cough and a heavy chest. I also think I get a bit wheezy but I'm not sure. Does anyone else get this and do they know why? Also does anyone know when to go to the doctor? I sometimes don't go until it settles into my chest and I feel like that's to late but idk if she can do anything sooner!
