Is finding a safe + sane + responsible housemate a possible thing anymore?

Hi y’all. I’ve been passively looking into moving around Bozeman for a few years now, i.e. clicking through many, many Zillow postings, and pricing is finally falling into a remotely affordable range. Though I likely still won’t be able to do it without a roommate or two. The last time I had to do this was a little under 20 years ago and believe it or not, I ended up finding someone through Craigslist. He turned out to be not only a great housemate, but a really great friend. I got So Very Incredibly lucky. That said, I don’t have the same naivety or faith in humanity that I did back then. Wondering if any of you Bozeman/Big Sky/Gallatin Gateway area redditors have insights or suggestions for seekers like me? Please spare me the “just don’t move here/MT is full/we hate tourists/out of towners ruin everything/etc.” narrative. I grew up in a beautiful, fast-growth tourist area that my great-grandparents helped homestead; I empathize deeply with locals’ frustrations, especially with regard to the destruction brought on by the ultra-wealthy/move-ins, gentrification, and general disrespect for local culture. But I’m not an asshole, I don’t come from money, and I leave a light footprint. I guess what I’m hoping for is someone or someone who knows someone who is, as the title mentions, safe, sane, responsible, reliable (can afford paying up to $1,600/month), tidy, and good with having a housemate with a dog (she’s an angel = ). OR, if there’s something I could look into in terms of “house sitting” or helping maintain a property in exchange for more affordable rent, even better! Yes, I’m aware this is all a long shot. Just putting it out there. Cheers, y’all.
