Hey everyone,

* I’m currently shooting with a **Canon EOS R8** and a 70–200mm f/2.8L
* Based here in **Morocco**, I’m passionate about street photography—capturing candid moments, the quirks of urban life, and local scenes. Occasionally, I also explore nature photography when I get the chance.
* I’ve been eyeing the **Canon RF 24 mm f/1.4 L VCM** lens for its wide field of view and exceptional sharpness—reviews mention it’s incredibly sharp even at f/1.4, compact, and well-built for outdoor use. It’s praised for landscapes, cityscapes, and low-light work, including astrophotography [Reddit+2YouTube+2](https://www.reddit.com/r/canon/comments/1c6du1p/thoughts_on_the_r8_and_rf_24105_and_where_to_buy/?utm_source=chatgpt.com)[Space+2Wikipedia+2](https://www.space.com/stargazing/skywatching-kit/canon-rf-24mm-f-1-4l-vcm-lens-review?utm_source=chatgpt.com).
* However, I also came across the **RF 24 mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM**; it’s lighter and includes image stabilization, but I’ve read it suffers from significant barrel distortion in RAW—though corrections help [Fstoppers+1](https://fstoppers.com/reviews/review-canon-rf-24mm-f18-macro-stm-lens-619956?utm_source=chatgpt.com).

**What I'm wondering:**

1. Given I already have the R8 and 70–200 mm lens, is the 24 mm f/1.4 L worth it as the *next* lens?
2. Would the 24–70 mm zoom make more sense for flexibility, or is it just a compromise? As per official listings, Canon does offer an RF 24–70 mm L IS USM Or Sigma 24-70mm F/2.8 AF (A) DG OS HSM [Reddit+9Wikipedia+9facebook.com+9](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_RF_lens_mount?utm_source=chatgpt.com).

1. What would you recommend for capturing striking street scenes (and a bit of nature)? Something that’s impressive, complements what I already have, and really “completes the gear.”

Big thanks in advance—I’d love to hear your experience with these options, especially if you’ve shot street photography in urban or North African settings!
