why should i have to show up to work if my paycheck is missing/late?

i get paid once a month. i’m a preschool teacher so i already don’t make a lot of money. i check my bank account this morning, no check. i think hmmmm maybe this is an issue for everyone so im going to show up and ask my coworkers if they received their checks. everyone i asked received theirs. people with the same bank as me as well. i’ve been on the payroll and gotten direct deposit, nothing has changed. i understand mistakes happen but for it to only be me? also we get paid once a month, do they realize people rely on this income to live? thankfully i live with my parents still and don’t have rent or else i would be screwed. it’s mid day i leave in about 3 hours no update yet. i have the next two days off but if i didn’t i might’ve not shown up anyways.
