Clean up

How do you keep your villages clean and tidy ?
I have ropes, sticks, bark etc all over the place.
Carpentry especially bad, if i forget to clean it up with the hoe i cant see my brother riding the stick lol
i set my firekeepers and cooks to use bark and sticks before coal but it is still a mess.
Unrelated, but also thatch; do i gotta dedicate a farm to it ? I almost damned my village to Hel, destoyed all shelters and went for the longhouse, but i underestimated how much resources it take to set it up.
Also, stumps; does giving firewood high priority for woodcutters actually make them cut stumps or is it just placebo ?
