help

my 4 year old dog had a habit of peeing on my rug, i would always clean it as best as i could however i just got a new rug and after not even having it for two days he peed on it too. is there anyway i can train out this behavior or am i not cleaning it well enough?? its hard wood under the rug so im afraid to soak it too much. is there a specific cleaner that will help? i used to kennel him at night and im afraid ill have to go back to that because he ONLY pees inside at night. (i let him out before bed every night and as soon as i wake up)
