Dead-end in Reddit discussions

It seems that there is this tendency between many Reddit users to encouter most discussions with sophistry, only to defend their own school of thought and their decided conclusions about the world and the nature of reality. That is not helpful, many here in science/technology communities act like religious zeleats, defending their ideologies and nothing more. Maybe you forgot that the aim in science and philosophy is to know the truth and the nature of reality and not to guard a bunch of pre-established dogmas using fallacy & sophistry.
