[Spoilers Main] Content creators incorrectly proclaiming the lie that "the others were never called white walkers in the book" was driving me insane.
Ive only ever done the books on tape, so I've never read the term with my own eyes (until today) - but I started hearing this lie years ago and every time I did it boiled my blood because I've heard it so often from so many different people, and it seemed so easily disprovable. I didn't understand why
The thing about is that I had HEARD the term myself so many times, and I KNEW it was in the books, yet since I had never READ it I had no way to definitively say that it was the exact term "white walkers". Uncertainty crept in, could it have actually been wight wahker?
Tonight finally in the middle of the night I heard it, woke myself up, found a PDF transcript and confirmed, sure as absolute sin, Jon 5 in dance, the text was in fact "white walkers".
I also then found this discussed on this subreddit before. I just wanted to add my experience to the discussion.
Absolutely amazing this lie has been able to be so widely spread (at least in my algorithm, ive heard it repeated many times by different people) it's so mind blowing because it shows clearly the people creating this content have never actually consumed the books, and are just repeating a sound bite they heard because it sounded unbelievable.
It is unbelievable. Because it's a lie. Get bent YouTubers, read the damn books before talking that smack.
