Day by day hour by hour the past was brought up to date

Never JW here with JW uncles, aunts and cousins. Through my anger at how my DFd cousin was treated, I’ve been reading this sub and researching. I’m enjoying “un-witnessing” when I have a chance. I had a chat with a couple in London last week. We talked about many JW teachings quite amicably. I said I thought they were in a cult, which surprised them so I talked about BITE and FOG. Where it got bizarre, however, was when I mentioned 1975 and how I knew someone (my uncle- but I kept it vague) who came over from the US to say goodbye to us all and try one last time to convert my family. (My dad saw through the BS). So I know this was a real teaching. The man in his 60s I was chatting to said I wouldn’t find anything about 1975 on the website, as though that implied the end of this system of things hadn’t been predicted. Is gaslighting a thing now? More Orwellian by the day…
