Making Games look like Movies
Hey everyone,
I’ve always loved both gaming and cinema, so I recently started an experiment: turning story-driven games into full-length movies.
So far, I’ve done it with Death Stranding and I’m currently working on new Mafia and RDR 2 . I am trying remove the HUD, no commentary at all, and try to edit gameplay and cutscenes together so it feels like one continuous cinematic experience — almost like watching a film instead of playing a game.
Here’s what I’m wondering:
- Does this kind of format actually work as cinematic storytelling, or does it still feel too much like “gameplay”?
- Would you watch something like this as an alternative to a Let’s Play or walkthrough?
For anyone curious, here’s one of my playlists: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIPipuenI_kXpucsK_0H66ay0iHhplus3
Really curious to hear your thoughts — especially from people who love narrative-heavy games. Do you think this “gaming as cinema” style has potential?
