Why does Google insist on using Tensor chips instead of Qualcomm / Mediatek?
I’ve always wondered why Google keeps developing and using their own Tensor chips in the Pixel lineup when it’s pretty clear they’re not on the same level as Qualcomm or even Mediatek / Exynos in terms of performance and efficiency. On top of that, they keep using the same modem that everyone says has issues.
My current phone is a Galaxy S24 Ultra and I’ve always wanted to switch to a Pixel, but the constant comments about the Tensor SoC and modem problems keep me from doing it. Pixel phones do not come with a budget price tag so I just expect them to use flagship quality components. Maybe Pixel 11 will be different and I will be able to go Pixel without any fears?
Is this mainly about cutting costs, or is there a bigger reason behind it?
Genuine question, please dont hate.
