“Science” can suck it. “Newborn circadian rhythm” can suck it
I use quotations because if every article starts with “we still don’t know why babies sleep all day and are up all night” Then it’s hypotheses at best, and shitty ones at that.
Don’t fucking tell me about circadian rhythm and suggest that there’s any motherfucking thing I can actually do about it.
I’ve done all of the things. All of them. My baby is 7.5 weeks and has never been MORE alert than at night (yay smiling and laughing but go the fuck to sleep, please) and has never been LESS awake than during the day. I’m talking rag doll nap status, will nurse but that’s it.
If anything, all of my attempts to wake her up during the day after varying nap lengths (I’ve tried it all), and create the “perfect environment” for each type of sleep, have all resulted in my daughter seemingly transitioning COMPLETELY to being awake at night and asleep during the day.
I wish someone would just have just told me I’m fucked until I’m not. Because I can do acceptance, which is a lot easier than feeling like a complete fucking failure every night after trying so hard.
This vent brought to you from three VERY BROKEN hours of sleep.
Also I love science. 🧪
