The Iranian government is the antithesis of what leftists claim to stand for and leftists who support it are hypocrites

Iran hated the Soviet Union as much as they hate the USA, even going as far as to call it the “other great satan” (not to mention that the USSR supported Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war). Because of this, it’s likely that had the Soviets won the Cold War, we’d get strong amonisity between the USSR and Iran, similar to the strong amonisity between the USA and Iran in our timeline (so just imagine civil wars in the Middle East fought between Communists and Islamists).

Iran is extremely anti-left and more so than McCarthy ever was. They crack down on workers rights and leftist organizations. They even went as far as to purge thousands and thousands of leftists after the 1979 Revolution. To show you how bad that is, more leftists were killed in 1988 alone than leftists were killed in the entirety of Pinochet’s rule over Chile.

Iran is a literally far-right theocracy that cracks down on woman’s rights, the 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️, etc, (not to mention they hosted a Holocaust denial conference once that included guests such as David Duke, the former Grand Wizard of the fucking KKK. You cannot call yourself “antifascist” while supporting literal Holocaust deniers.
