Not getting gold from referrals

Hi everyone, i have a problem. My friend just made a new account (long story short, he got banned for RMT but he didn't do anything.). He used my referal code and then bought a starter bundle, but i didn't get the 500 gold it said i should get. Does it have to be just premium he buys or can it also be starter bundles.
