My cousin met someone in the game, and now they’re talking, but only through Messenger. That duo eventually became my online friend too. Sometimes we talk, and he opens up to me since he found out we’re cousins.

At first, I thought he was a girl, but he later opened up to me that he’s actually a guy. I was really shocked because it wasn’t obvious—he used a fake name, and that’s why he didn’t want to reveal his real one. The thing is, he still hasn’t told my cousin (who is a boy) that he’s male. He continues using his fake name, and he said he’s scared my cousin might get mad and treat him differently if he reveals the truth. He also said they’re kind of developing feelings for each other, which is the real problem.

As his cousin, I want to advise him not to fall in love too quickly, because he might end up getting hurt. But the issue is, I promised the duo that I wouldn’t reveal his true identity. I already told him that if he ever gets the courage, he should confess right away. But he told me he might never tell. And I know it’s not my place to reveal his secret.

He even asked me if my cousin is straight, but I couldn’t answer because I’m not that close to him—we only see or talk to each other occasionally, mostly when I need something, haha.

The problem is, I keep overthinking: what if my cousin finds out I knew the truth but didn’t tell him? He might get mad at me. And honestly, I already made a mistake—before they even started chatting on Messenger, I told the duo my cousin’s real name. So now he knows, but my cousin doesn’t know that I was the one who gave it away. I realize it was wrong of me to share information with a stranger. I admit it was careless of me, and I’m expecting my cousin will probably get mad at me if he finds out.
