Can someone help me understand the new insect glaive?

My first time “really” playing monster hunter was world and i quickly took to the insect glaive. The instructions were simple, get the three colors and play a game of “the floor is lava” with the goal of grabbing the monster but now i understand things have changed. Im having a hard time learning this new glaive and i want to use it again even if it’s not the same. How do you use this new glaive? What are its strengths and what do you focus on?
