What is a fact you wish you could unlearn?

For me it was definitely learning about the existence of prions. They’re not a bacteria or a virus but they cause rapid cognitive decline and death. They’re basically these misfolded proteins that cause other proteins to become abnormal. There is no good diagnostic tool for prion disease (it’s typically discovered after death), and there is no way to sterilize for prions either. Standard autoclave and sterilization techniques do not get rid of prions. And their incubation period varies a lot. It could even be years. So you might not even know you got infected with it 5 years ago and then you suddenly start losing your mind and then die.
