I've driven my M65 Elite into the ground over five years. What are some modern alternatives in the same price ballpark?
In my years of computer-ing I've only ever used three different mice, and of those my Corsair M65 Elite has lasted the second longest. I've used it for hours every day for the last five years, and it's performed outstandingly well. For three years it had no problems at all, and even now it's generally operable. I'm a gamer-turned-workstation-user, and my hand loves the shape and weight. I've come to depend on the Aim button for digital art.
However, despite deep-cleaning it regularly, the LMB sensor is starting to go, and MMB is completely dead. The unit rattles like a maraca when shaken, and squeezing it sounds like tightly holding marbles in my hand. Also, after squeezing, the primary buttons' press force is randomized between 'requires considerable effort' and 'clicks under its own weight', which is kind of annoying...
Essential features for me are MMB click, DPI up to 3k, and an Aim button or macro pad that can be configured to reduce the DPI while held. I've looked around online, but I'm terribly ignorant about what's good nowadays, and I'm worried about dropping $80 on something that will die in a year. What should I be considering?
