Is it still worth it to purchase avatars?

I know that Reddit is winding down their avatar services, but still keeping some general features so you a use the ones you purchased. Even when this is the case I was wondering if it was a good idea to purchase same avatars despite this. I know people will have different opinions on this, and I am interested to hear them.
