Cool e-Commerce Security Email
I just received a really nice and brief email from my insurance company (hereafter referred to as [Company]). Their advice really applies in to a lot of online payment scenarios:
Common Scam Tactics:
-
Fake Discounts: No third party can offer discounts on your [Company] bill.
-
Payment Requests via Apps: [Company] never asks for payments through Zelle, Venmo, or Cash App.
-
Unsolicited Contacts: Be cautious of unexpected calls or emails asking for personal or financial info.
-
Urgent Demands: Scammers often pressure you to act quickly.
-
Upfront Payments: You never need to pay to file a claim or update your policy.
-
Suspicious Payment Details: [Company] will always appear as the payee on your statement
-
Impersonation: Scammers may pose as [Company] agents or ask for reset codes — never share them.
-
Suspicious links: Unexpected messages often contain links that take you to a fraudulent site pretending to be [Company] .
