Back sprain

I am only 23 and I’m relatively active. I recently sprained my back yesterday while simply bending over to pick something up. Since then I've been unable to walk or bend. Is this normal? It's only happened twice in my life to this extent. The last time this happened I was bedridden for two, maybe three days
