REVIEW: Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest

Holy Moly this movie should be called Lowest 2 Lowest. I’m absolutely stunned at the positive reviews. Did these movie critics actually watch the movie or were they too busy gargling Spike Lee’s balls?

This movie wasn’t just bad. It was harmful to Spike Lee’s legacy. Actually disgraceful. Completely soulless, corny, performative, shallow, out of touch, and directionless. The greatest fault of this movie, however, is how utterly boring it was. There were a couple scenes that were watchable. The rest was hallmark/lifetime mush with random references to Black culture and Black excellence, as if Spike Lee was trying to say “look guys! I’m in touch with the youth! I’m an artist!” At some points there were random filters just tossed on for, well, no reason. A$AP Rocky even gets a short music video during the movie for also, no reason.

At one point Denzel Washington decides to handle the kidnapper “Young Felon” (yes, that’s really his name), on his own, and somehow manages to not only catch him, but beat him up. Completely unbelievable for the 70 year old Denzel Washington. Although I must admit, Denzel and A$AP Rocky did the best they could with the steaming garbage they were handed. Their delivery (even with terrible dialogue) was a saving grace.

This movie is a mockery, and might’ve been written by AI. The theme surrounding the importance of family is pretty unclear. If you are an adult and seriously enjoy this movie, why?

I would rather face Denzel’s boot than watch it again. 2/10
