Need to buy a disconnect for a screenprinting dryer
We have a 240v 60 amp converter dryer we just bought to replace a smaller dryer had. The previous dryer was setup by our electrician and we had him run 6-3 awg wiring in metal conduit to a box on the ceiling which has a female plug on it for our old dryer to plug in. We had him run 6 awg in case we expanded to a larger dryer. He has a 2 pole 30amp breaker currently in the main panel but we were going to swap out to a 50 amp. We do not think we need to reach the full 60 amp the dryer might require at max temp. We will probably use about 60-70 percent of its max so 50 amps should be plenty and the previous owner also only used a 50 amp breaker.
So the new dryer has some 6awg mc coming out of it from the previous owner. So we wanted to run some new 6 awg wiring running from the ceiling to a disconnect on the wall then plug the new dryer in there. However I’m struggling to determine the best disconnect. I like the butter knife switches but I’m questioning whether to go fused on non fused. Need by tomorrow so was thinking a 60 amp fusable disconnect with a 50 amp cartridge fuse. Would this be the best route?
Ps my business partners home is above our shop so fusable should be more safe correct to reduce any overload/fire?
