On Reddit's highly regarded censorship

Censorship

I was under the impression that Reddit had relaxed the rules on the r-word.

In a certain sub for Palestine, there's a post with a video of some evil little settler kids, carrying canes, attacking Palestinian farmers in the West Bank, knowing full well the farmer risks his life if he even defends himself.

This short clip made me plenty mad, because at this point it's not even some deeply held ideological issue, it's parents teaching their kids that this racialized hatred is good and productive, and that it benefits them to conduct suck attacks.

So, in my moment of rage, I used the r-word to describe these children of the corn.

AutoModerator told me that I needed to resubmit my comment, because of the dreaded word. Kinda surprised me, since I thought it was each sub's choice, and this wasn't a sub about such issues.

Anyway, I'm still pretty angry, so I replaced the unsayable word with "dysgenic psychos" and it was no problem at all.

Now that I'm calmer, I realize that too was perhaps a poor choice of words. But it makes me think, how ridiculous is this kind of censorship, when the easiest way to get around it is to basically slur even harder?
