Hoping I could get you guys' opinions?
Hi, I'm not a muslim but i did grow up around a lot of Muslims as a result of being raised in a very muslim community in India and off course, most indians are very homophobic (both Muslims and hindus) but I did find that Muslims were more conservative. Most of that I believe has to do with poverty. Muslims are very marginalized and poor but I do notice that even many Muslims in the West have this attitude that I call homophobia but say it nicely. Muslims will often say things like it's bad and it's a sin and you're going to go to hell but we can still be friends (I'm not joking a hijabi woman actually said this to me). They'll also say stuff like being gay isn't a sin but acting on your feelings is which is to me at least just being homophobic with extra steps. Even in so called progressive Muslims I see this attitude sometimes. It's like they recognize the religion forbids you but they can't bring themselves to hate you (another thing a Muslim woman actually said to me). And I know conservative people everywhere and I've met nice normal Muslims too. It's just it's kind of shocking to see otherwise liberal and progressive people say this to you.
