What’s the typical workflow for sound designers when working in a remote team?

In the past, I’ve created an audiodrama that, while not spectacular by any means, was created with only myself with a basic library and some grit. I discovered a love for it all, including sound design. But that was with one person.

I’m looking to do it again, this time in a professional setting, but I’m wondering how do sound designers work within a team? What’s the typical workflow, remotely speaking?

Do sound designers just supply the audio and I have to put it all in a timeline myself, do they kick off a file that is routinely shared, back and forth, where we hash out the timeline together?

Apologises for the dumb question, I just had to ask. If you’ve been involved in a similar situation with an audiodrama, how did you work with the other people? Many thanks!
