tv not auto switching hdmi source(s)
i have an old 2017 q70r 65” tv. i actually have two and only one of them is having an issue. but i love these tv’s no doubt.
premise: i have an hdmi cable connected to an apple tv and another hdmi cable connected to a ps4. previously when i turned on the apple tv, the tv would turn on and display the apple tv source. whilst on this screen, when i turned on the ps4, it would automatically switch sources and display ps4 content. even when the tv would be off, turning on the ps4 would also turn on the tv. though, an odd thing was that every time i would turn off the ps4, it would automatically switch back to the apple tv even if the apple tv was not triggered or turned on previously. (i really didn’t mind this.)
issue: i moved my tv to another room and plugged in the same set up. the apple tv is switching sources just fine, but the ps4 is not auto switching the tv input which requires me to grab the remote every time i want to use the ps4. (i know….first world inconveniences) what’s interesting is the tv recognizes that it’s a ps4 being inserted and switches over to ‘game mode’. but after all that, turning off the ps4 now keeps the tv on the “no signal” screen.
can anyone help shed some light on this issue?
troubleshooting steps i’ve taken:
- turn off and back on anynet+ (hdmi-cec)
- power cycle the tv (unplug and plug back in)
- switch ps4 hdmi port from hdmi 2 to hdmi 3 (did nothing)
