Keep Your Pit Away from my Daughter

NSFW

I have a one year old daughter who loves to walk around and is super curious. Based on this, I try and find places to take her where she can walk around but can't break much, that also is a stimulating environment.

One of the places we go is Petco. I am always within arms reach of her, and I know there are animals there. She loves dogs and is super gentle when petting them, so I'll ask the owner if she can pet. However, we always avoid pitbulls (obviously)

Last time we went, she was petting an aussie kind of dog and then we said thank you and started walking away. A man with a pit came over and said "here she can pet him too" which is so creepy for so many reasons. I had already picked her up before he came close since I had seen the dog. I said no thanks and turned, but he actually started getting frustrated and said that I let her pet the other dog his dog is so sweet and loves kids and used the phrase "nanny dog."

I've had a violent experience with a pitbull already where my own dog saved me (check my page if you're interested idk how to link) so I never get close to them on my own, much less with my daughter. I kept walking away and luckily he didn't follow me, but we immediately left Petco.

I just wanted to share how people push the "nanny dog" and tried to guilt me into letting my child go near the animal because she pet a different dog.
