A little side project of mine is trying to identify [the in-game portraits](https://www.spriters-resource.com/pc_computer/arcanum/asset/30730/) in *Arcanum.* I hope this is relevant enough to the game to post here!

**My primary resources:**

* [The Smithsonian Institution's Open Access](https://www.si.edu/search/images?edan_fq[]=set_name:%22National+Portrait+Gallery+Collection%22&edan_fq[]=media_usage:CC0) collection (primarily from 1840s-1890s)
* [The Library of Congress](https://www.loc.gov/) (primarily from the [Brady-Handy collection](https://www.loc.gov/collections/brady-handy/))
* [Troika Connection](https://members.tripod.com/troika_connection/Home/id2_m.htm) ([Wayback Machine version](https://web.archive.org/web/20021209122508/http://members.tripod.com/troika_connection/Home/) since the main site is kinda buggy) - for the Troika Games developer portraits
* [Snopes](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/1980s-food-ad-meat-nazi-poster/) (for Donn Throgg's portrait pose)

^(Also, before someone says that Virgil's portrait actually references Leonard Boyarsky's face based on Tim Cain's) [^("Easter Eggs")](https://youtu.be/oaJDGtKHyFk?si=ToJH3Id5OQAouzfJ&t=120) ^(video, I have addressed it) [^(here)](https://imgur.com/a/9uuDLFl)^(.)

I have some suspicions of where the unidentified portraits may come from, but I'm often thrown off by [the exact camera angle](https://www.si.edu/object/alice-roosevelt-longworth:npg_S_NPG.84.292) (for Elf Female 1), or [other facial features have been changed drastically but the angle seems to match](https://www.si.edu/object/alonzo-barton-hepburn:npg_S_NPG.93.388.15) (Human Male 2), or I just don't think I can feasibly find the original reference photo (Waromon appears to be based on a Komodo Dragon).

**Any assistance to identify the exact photos the** [**other portraits**](https://www.spriters-resource.com/pc_computer/arcanum/asset/30730/) **might originate from would be appreciated!**

Portraits I've identified so far (any assistance appreciated!)
