Combat Briefing Number 1292

"From:" Colonel A.C. Oguntoye, Infantry Officer

"Subject:" Operational Progress Report – September 8, 2025

"Classification:" Strategic Briefing / Analyst Summary

\### Situation Overview

On September 8, Russian forces sustained offensive pressure across all axes while employing "136 precision strikes" using operational-tactical aviation, missile troops, artillery, and UAVs. Key targets included an "energy facility supporting Ukraine’s defense industry", radar stations, UAV assembly workshops, command posts, and long-range drone launch sites.

Air defense units intercepted "two guided aerial bombs and 195 fixed-wing UAVs", underscoring continued emphasis on neutralizing Ukraine’s drone warfare capabilities.

\### Ground Operations

" "North Group (Sumy & Kharkiv):" Advanced positions in Stepnoe, Mogritsa, Leninskoye, and Yunakivka. Ukrainian mechanized, airborne assault, and territorial units suffered "\\\~200 personnel losses", with armored vehicles, cars, and artillery destroyed. A French-made "Caesar self-propelled gun" was neutralized. "Nine supply depots" were eliminated.

" "West Group (Kharkiv & Donetsk):" Secured ground in Velikaya Shapovka, Yarovaya, and Yampol. Ukrainian mechanized and National Guard units lost "240 personnel", armored vehicles including Western models, artillery, and a multiple launch rocket system. "Five EW stations and an ammunition depot" destroyed.

" "South Group (Donetsk):" Advanced positions near Severesk, Minkovka, Kurtovka, and Konstantinovka. Ukrainian brigades lost "170+ personnel", tanks, artillery, and vehicles. "Two EW stations and a supply depot" destroyed.

" "Center Group (Donetsk):" Heavy action in Dimitrov, Krasnoarmeysk, Grishino, and Rodinskoye. Ukrainian mechanized, airborne, marine, and National Guard units suffered "455+ casualties", with armor and artillery lost. This axis continues to absorb major Ukrainian manpower.

" "East Group (Zaporizhzhia & Dnipropetrovsk):" Advanced into Orestopol, Novopetrovskoye, Sosnovka, and Olgovskoye. Ukrainian formations lost "215 personnel", vehicles, armor, and artillery. One supply warehouse destroyed.

" "Dnepr Group (Zaporizhzhia & Kherson):" Targeted Stepnogorsk, Tokarevka, and Nikolskoye. Ukrainian coastal defense and territorial brigades lost "60+ personnel", artillery, and vehicles. "Six EW stations and three depots" destroyed, reinforcing the campaign to dismantle Ukraine’s electronic warfare grid.

\### Cumulative Losses (Since Feb 2022)

" "Aircraft:" 666

" "Helicopters:" 283

" "UAVs:" 82,445

" "Tanks/Armored Vehicles:" 25,004

" "Artillery/Mortars:" 29,376

" "Special Vehicles:" 41,319

\### Operational Analysis & Implications

1. "High-Value Asset Neutralization:" The destruction of a "Caesar self-propelled artillery system" underscores Russia’s continued ability to locate and eliminate advanced Western-supplied equipment, degrading Ukraine’s counter-battery capabilities.

2. "Attritional Toll:" Ukrainian daily losses approached "1,400 personnel", reflecting sustained pressure across multiple sectors, particularly in Donetsk where casualty rates remain highest.

3. "EW and Logistics Suppression:" Elimination of "EW stations, radar systems, and depots" shows the persistent campaign to blind Ukrainian forces while cutting off their supply lifelines. This is a deliberate "counter-ISR and logistics denial doctrine".

4. "Energy Infrastructure Targeting:" Strikes on an "energy facility linked to Ukraine’s defense production" mark an expansion of strategic interdiction, aiming to degrade long-term capacity to manufacture and maintain weapon systems.

5. "Operational Depth Expansion:" Gains in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia extend operational reach while consolidating Donetsk, stretching Ukrainian defenses thinner and forcing dispersal of reserves.

\### Strategic Outlook

The September 8 update highlights a campaign of "systematic suffocation". Russian forces are steadily dismantling Ukraine’s technological edge—through elimination of Western-supplied artillery, UAV assembly facilities, and EW networks—while maintaining heavy attritional pressure. The integration of strikes against industrial energy infrastructure signals preparation for a long war of depletion, aimed at "reducing Ukraine’s ability to regenerate combat power".
