AITA for asking my bf to chop an onion so I could make us dinner?
Just posting because I’m not sure how to feel about it and I don’t wanna share this with friends or family because it was a really dumb fight honestly. So, I (32 F) was going to make dinner for my bf (33 M) and I last night. For context: he worked In the morning and then spent the rest of the day running errands, I had more of a free day but I work 12h a day during the week, leaving home at 8am and sometimes coming back past 8:30pm, when he has more of a chill week, sometimes working less than 8h a day. He’s a personal trainer so he works a few hours most weekends where I have the weekends free. When I asked him to chop and onion he said he had just set down and was wanting to rest, I told him that was okay and he could do the chopping a little later. Instead he made chicken nuggets for himself so I made dinner and meal prepped only for myself. When we went to sleep we started talking about it and it became a full blown fight, I said he was selfish because he wasn’t tired enough to make food for himself but couldn’t cut one onion so I could make a whole dinner for the both of us. His argument was that I should’ve understood that he was tired and should’ve just made the whole thing without asking him to help, he said he’s been doing more around the house lately (mostly dishes and groceries) since I’m working so hard during the week, and not once he complained about it, he just expected me to do this one thing without having to ask anything of him. I told him it was already 8pm, I knew I was going to have to work like a mule during the week, which would be a lot more slack for him even tho he had done a lot during that specific day, and I just asked him for that one thing so I could be done making a little faster. We ended up going to sleep without finding a common ground. He said I wasn’t understanding him, which I believe I was but I felt he was not even trying to understand me. It’s such a stupid fight but I wanted to know if I should’ve given him more grace. We’ve lived together for a little over a year and half now and been dating for just as long (that itself it’s a whole nother story lol) Sorry if the writing is weird, english is my second language
