(Update) First Time Sellers

So if you saw my previous post the survey was today and the surveyor spoke to us at the end (we’re selling).

Said everything was generally fine except at some point prior to us buying a steel purlin has been installed in the loft.

It looks like there was no permission sought prior to this being installed. It doesn’t look like the people we bought it off did it and it wasn’t flagged as an issue on our purchase.

He’s suggesting it may need a structural engineer to sign off on it and our solicitors have said it should be fine with an indemnity policy.

Has anyone else had something like this? It majorly alarmed me at first but from speaking with our solicitor in much more calm now but just keen to get others experiences.
