[online][20:30 CET]{Beginner friendly}{LGBT+ friendly} Looking for 2 players to join a mysterious adventure riddled with family drama and conspiracies!

Hey everyone, I'm Esion!

I run a Fabula Ultima campaign for a table of friends on Fridays, and seeing how a player won't be able to continue playing due to scheduling issues, I wanted to take the opportunity and see if anyone's interested in joining!

Alright, here's the pitch!

The World

The true events of the Cataclysm are recounted by the Church of Nova through the Grand Herald and the Will-speaker.

More than 200 years ago, the world collapsed. In an event called colloquially 'The Cataclysm', the Goddess Nova, who resides at the center of the world, tired and deluded by the people who ignored the divine forces' authority, decided to strip humanity and the world itself of magic.

That day, cities fell from the sky, tidal waves swallowed the shores, and life that thrived on the magic of nature slowly withered away. Humanity was reduced to less than 1/10th of what it once was in mere days, and just about nothing was left of the 'old world'. And as if that wasn't enough, in her fit of rage, Nova proceeded to lash out against those who remained and cursed many of them in disparate ways.

Following the Cataclysm, Nova appointed two men with divine authority. One was granted immortality and the ability to communicate with her, while the other received a booming voice, so he could be heard all throughout the world. The Grand Herald and the Will-speaker, under the guidance of Nova, then established the omonymous Church so that they could guide humanity to an earnest future.

Years later, pleased with the progress and the newfound attitude of humanity, Nova graced the world once more with magic, and under the guidance of the Church and the Grand Herald, a new world order was established.

Nowadays, the world has regained a semblance of normality, as kingdoms and nations dot the surface of this hollow earth. The most important location is also where our adventure takes place, the hive city of Sorenica, built around the Babel Tower, the Church's "headquarters", where the Grand Herald and most of the Church's high-ranking officials reside.

The Story

212 years after the gift of magic was once again bestowed upon the world, we follow the unfortunate adventures of the Covor family, their humble carpet store and all friends who wish to embark on this common journey. The Covors are a family of carpet weavers, and have been the heart of their community for as long as history knows them.

Unfortunately for them, the Church of Nova has a mysterious agenda against them and seems to target the family at every opportunity, making their life miserable. From forced relocation to false accusations of Tax Evasion or pushing the old man, Cassius Covor, down the city's edge and forcing him into a wheelchair, they've tried everything, all while avoiding communication.

The Covor kids are fighting tooth and nail to keep their Carpet Store and their family safe, clashing against the Church, avid Priests with personal agendas, and most recently, an entire crime syndicate covering the entire Sorenica.

The Party

The party's currently at level 10.

Fride Covor - the oldest sibling of the Covor kids and adopted child of Penelope and Cassius Covor, playing Fury.

Fletcher Argent Covor - Older brother of Jerome but younger than Fride, he has started taking illegal and dangerous jobs at night with some unsavory friends, playing Entropist/Ace of Cards.

Jerome Covor - the youngest brother. One day, he died falling off a tree and made a pact with death to act as her vessel to carry out her 'executions', in exchange for his life. Playing Darkblade/Loremaster.

Matthew McDaniel - wisened by regret, he's the personal guard for the three kids after Cassius' accident, when he was pushed off the ledge of a city and nearly died. Playing Sharpshooter and about to retire :'(

Notes

The game is not necessarily combat-heavy; it shines the most in player-to-player roleplay, and the focus is on your characters' story. These kids are packing so many bottled-up feelings and so much drama, so much so that sessions so far have been for 2/3 player-to-player roleplay.

As a DM, I prefer running games where each choice matters, and this game is no different. Violence and murder are not common in Sorenica; killing a guard will have its consequences, as does refusing the offer of an entitled brat running a crime syndicate or deciding when to act on a plan.

There's also a vaster world beyond the Covor family and what's been mentioned so far, filled with fallen cities, wastelands, an entire old world to uncover, and many, many options for any kind of character you'd like to play and any story you want to bring to life.

You'll probably like the game if you like:

  • Playing deep and intricate/flawed characters
  • Sitting through roleplay and 1-on-1 conversations
  • Games with heavy consequences / impactful choices
  • Mysteries
  • Magitech worlds
  • Slow-paced stories / slow burn
  • Family drama
  • The feeling of dread and depression, as there's always something fighting against you to take care of, all in the hopes of a better future and one day overcoming impossible odds

This is a story about the indomitable human spirit, kindness, overcoming impossible odds, a fight against tyranny, and a conspiracy to uncover.
