Why do some people get hysterectomy but not oophorectomy?

Hysterectomy

Not trying to judge anyone, just wanting to be more informed about my future options for surgery and understand other people’s choices better.

Why would you go through the trouble of getting your uterus removed but leave the ovaries in? As far as I understand it, the uterus does not produce estrogen and progesterone, but the ovaries do. Wouldn’t that mean the ovaries are the more pressing thing to get out?

Is oophorectomy just more expensive? Is it about the possibility of not having access to testosterone and having no sex hormones being dangerous? I think I would rather run that risk than continue being pumped full of female hormones by my ovaries, but maybe I am misunderstanding the procedure or my priorities are just different. If someone could explain I would appreciate it.
