New to Cycling-What are good brands I should look into?

Hi, as the title states I am a complete beginner in the cycling world. I am a runner who is looking to get into other endurance sports as well and cycling intrigues me a lot; however, i don’t personally know anybody who cycles.

I have been to a few bike shops, and I have a general idea of what I want/my budget. I am looking for brand recommendations that won’t break the bank but are also high quality.

I am also open to any tips a beginner would benefit from :)

I am more interested in longer distance road cycling. So I have been looking into gravel and road bikes. I went to one shop that heavily pushed Trek as a brand, told me to look into the Domane line. I would like some other options to compare. I would like to stick to $1,000-1500 for price.
