Satellite passes

Just getting back to communication satellites and wondering, which are some of your favorite satellites for communicate through. I started using N2YO and I noticed the pass times listed of the amateur sats are all on the order of 4-6 minutes each, perhaps 10 at most. I recall when I last worked sats, SSB sats like FO-29, AO-7, AO-27, pass times were on the order of 20-25 minutes for a full pass. How does anyone talk on a satellite that has a <10 min pass time. Am I missing something ?
