Prog Album of the Week - Week 7 (09/27/2013): Rush - Moving Pictures
Welcome to the eighth week of r/progrockmusic's Album of the Week! Last week we discussed Pink Floyd's Animals and that was lovely. If you'd like to peruse previous weeks' discussions, the threads are here:
1, 2, 3, [4] (http://www.reddit.com/r/progrockmusic/comments/1lg9vp/prog_album_of_the_week_week_4_08312013_genesis/), 5, 6, 7.
This weeks prog album is Rush's Moving Pictures, an album hailed my many as Rush's magnum opus. I tend to agree with this sentiment (over, say, Hemispheres or 2112) due to its immaculate consistency. Also Red Barchetta is da BESS!

####Potential Discussion Questions:
-
Moving Pictures is a pretty big change relative to their previous album, Permanent Waves (1980). What constitutes such a change?
-
How would you personally rate the album?
-
Moving Pictures really captures Neil Peart's mastery of the drums. What specifically do you enjoy (or dislike) about Peart as a drummer?
-
Are there any moments on the album you consider particularly strong or particularly weak (i.e., favourite/least favourite moments)?
