What happens if it drops alot? Society wise.

Just wondering if I were to convert my cash to BTC, I imagine alot of people do this but if it was to drop like 30-50% in a week would alot of people be broke/unable to survive? I feel like I would have alot of people asking me to borrow $20/40 relatively soon after...
