Warning to KRK Rokit users: My €200 Rokit 5 G4 speaker went silent just after two years
I bought a pair of brand-new KRK Rokit 5 G4s in November 2022. By November 2024, one of them began acting up - it wouldn't power on properly, and the rear LED screen would blink rapidly. I found a temporary workaround by switching it off and quickly turning it back on, which worked for a while.
However, two weeks ago, it stopped responding entirely - the power-on trick no longer worked. I took it to a technician, who found that all the capacitors were swollen and needed replacing. Interestingly, the power supply voltage appeared stable. After replacing the damaged capacitors, the speaker powered on again, and the LED screen functioned normally.
But now there's a new issue: there's no sound at all, regardless of volume settings. I ruled out cable or input issues by using the same setup that works with the other speaker - still nothing.
After some research, I discovered that many other users have reported the exact same problem. Frankly, it's frustrating that a €200 speaker fails like this in under three years. I'm thinking about buying a new pair of speakers, and I'm afraid of choosing KRK's again...
